1. BEGINNER KNITTING Class

Designed for the absolute beginner, you will learn the fundamentals of knitting. Learn to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off. You will be set to knit a simple hat, scarf or cowl by the end of the session.

2. Level II KNITTING
Two 2 hour classes, THURSDAY Mar 15 and 22, 9:30 am to 11:30 am,
You know how to cast on, knit and purl. This class will teach how to make increases and decreases, how to do simple lace and other stitch patterns as well as pattern reading.

3. Project Class –Worsted Weight Baby Booties
One 2 1/2 hour class, 9:30am to 12:00pm

Learn how to make a quick pair of baby booties using worsted weight yarn.

4. TOE UP SOCK
One 2 hour class and two 1 hour class the following two weeks

5. KNITTED MITTENS

SATURDAY March 10 and 17
Learn to knit mittens in the round on double pointed needles using worsted weight yarn. Learn how to shape a thumb gusset and do decreases for the top of a mitten.

6. CAST ONS and CAST OFFS in Knitting
One 3 hour class
SATURDAY March 17, 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm

There are many different cast ons and cast offs that can be used in knitting. Learn why and when you use different cast ons and cast offs. We will look at provisional cast ons and regular cast ons as well as different ways of casting off including 3 needle bind off and kitchener stitch.

7. Chevron Baby Blanket
One 3 hour class, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
FRIDAY March 16

Learn to knit a chunky weight chevron baby blanket. Can be made in a single colour or multiple colours. Must be a competent beginner and know how to cast on, knit and purl.

8. FIXING YOUR MISTAKES
One 2 hour class, 9:30 to 11:30 am
FRIDAY April 13

Do you dread having to rip out all your work because you dropped a stitch? In this class you will learn how to pick up dropped stitches, how to uncross twisted stitches, unknit stitches and other tricks to fix your mistakes. Learn how to recognize your mistakes and how to decide if you need to fix a mistake. Participants are encouraged to bring in their mistakes.

9. Introduction to LACE KNITTING
One 3 hour class, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
FRIDAY April 27

Once you know how to knit and purl you are ready to venture into simple lace patterns. Learn how to do the increases and decreases used to make lace. Learn how to read a simple lace chart while knitting a lace shawl.

10. Ravelry.com as a knitting tool.
One 90 minute class,1:00 to 2:30 pm
SATURDAY JUNE 16

Ravelry is a valuable tool for knitters and crocheters. Come and learn all that Ravelry has to offer, from information on yarns and patterns, to forums on all things yarn related. Learn how to store your patterns, keep track of what you have made, yarns in your stash and needles that you own and search for projects or groups. You will wonder how you ever lived without Ravelry. Bring your tablet or phone if you like or watch on my computer.

11. Beyond Knit and Purl – PATTERN READING Class
One 3 hour class, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
WEDNESDAY May 16

If you know how to knit and purl and are ready to move beyond dish clothes and scarves, this is the class for you. Learn how to choose a pattern and the appropriate yarn, and unravel the mysteries of gauge swatches and pattern abbreviations. Choose your own project to work on and bring it to the first class.

12. Learn to Knit SOCKSLilas et moi
Four 1 hour classes, 9:30 am to 10:30 am
WEDNESDAY May 30,13, 20 and 27
Learn to knit socks from the cuff down. You will learn to knit in the round on double pointed needles, turn a heel and the dreaded Kitchener stitch. Students will complete a full-sized fingering weight sock by the end of the 4 weeks.

CROCHET CLASSES

C1. BEGINNER CROCHET
Two 2 hour classes,
Class A SATURDAY, April 28 and May 5, 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Participants in this class will learn how to form the 5 most basic stitches in crochet, starting with the basic building blocks: holding the hook, maintaining tension, and wrapping the yarn around the hook. The all-important skill of “reading” your crochet stitches will also be covered. As we cover these basics, you will learn the first steps of reading a crochet pattern.

C2. CROCHET LEVEL 2
Two 2 hour classes,12:30 pm to 2:30 pm
SATURDAY May 19 and 26

If you already know the basics of crochet and are ready to tackle a project, this is the class for you. You will learn how to read a pattern including using crochet symbols. You can choose to work on a baby afghan, scarf or baby jacket.

Learn how to knit with more than one colour.  We will work on a Fair Isle hat using a circular needle and cover how to carry the yarn for a neat finish, how to avoid jogs while knitting in the round and how to read charts.
