1 Learn to Knit SOCKS
Four 1 hour classes, 9:30 to 10:30 am
Class A.FRIDAY October 13, 20, 27 and November 3
Learn to knit socks from the cuff down. You will learn to knit in the round on double pointed needles, turn a heel and the dreaded Kitchener stitch. Students will complete a full-sized fingering weight sock by the end of the 4 weeks.

2. BEGINNER Class
Three 1 hour classes, WEDNESDAY mornings, 9:30 to 10:30 am
Class A – September 20, 27 and October 4
Class B – November 15, 22 and 29

Designed for the absolute beginner, you will learn the fundamentals of knitting. Learn to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off. You will be set to knit a simple hat, scarf or cowl by the end of the session.

3. Beyond Knit and Purl – PATTERN READING Class
One 3 hour classes
WEDNESDAY October 25, 9:30 to 12:30 am

If you know how to knit and purl and are ready to move beyond dish clothes and scarves, this is the class for you. Learn how to choose a pattern and the appropriate yarn, and unravel the mysteries of gauge swatches and pattern abbreviations. Choose your own project to work on and bring it to the first class.

4. Project Class -CABLED HEADBAND
One 2 hour class, 9:30 am to 11:30 am

Learn to knit a cabled headband with chunky yarn. A good way to learn how to knit cables.

6. Project Class – HELICAL STRIPED HAT
One 2 hour class, 9:30 am to 11:30 am
SATURDAY September 17

Learn how to knit a striped hat with 3 or more colours without jogs and creating an interesting swirl at the crown of the hat. We will be using worsted weight yarn in 3 colours.

7. CAST ONS and CAST OFFS in Knitting
One 3 hour class, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
SATURDAY September 24

There are many different cast ons and cast offs that can be used in knitting. Learn why and when you use different cast ons and cast offs. We will look at provisional cast ons and regular cast ons as well as different ways of casting off including 3 needle bind off and kitchener stitch.

8. Project Class – FINGERLESS GLOVES
One 3 hour class, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

Learn how to knit a worsted weight pair of gloves great for texting..

9. Level II KNITTING
Three 1 hour classes, 9:30 am to 10:30 am
Class A – THURSDAY September 21, 28 and October 5
Class B – FRIDAY November 24, December 1 and 8

You know how to cast on, knit and purl. This class will teach how to make increases and decreases, how to do simple lace and other stitch patterns as well as pattern reading.

10. TOE UP SOCK
One 2 hour class and two 1 hour class the following two weeks
SATURDAY November 25, 9:30 to 11:30 am, December 2 and 9, 9:30 to 10:30am

Never have to worry about having enough yarn for your toes. Learn to knit socks from the toe up.

11. FIXING YOUR MISTAKES
One 2 hour class
SATURDAY November 11, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Do you dread having to rip out all your work because you dropped a stitch? In this class you will learn how to pick up dropped stitches, how to uncross twisted stitches, unknit stitches and other tricks to fix your mistakes. Learn how to recognize your mistakes and how to decide if you need to fix a mistake. Participants are encouraged to bring in their mistakes.

CROCHET CLASSES

C1. BEGINNER CROCHET
Two 2 hour classes, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Class A – TUESDAY, September 19 and 26
Class B – SATURDAY, October 21 and 28

Participants in this class will learn how to form the 5 most basic stitches in crochet, starting with the basic building blocks: holding the hook, maintaining tension, and wrapping the yarn around the hook. The all-important skill of “reading” your crochet stitches will also be covered. As we cover these basics, you will learn the first steps of reading a crochet pattern.

C2. CROCHET LEVEL 2
Two 2 hour classes,, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Class A – TUESDAY October 24 and 31
Class B – SATURDAY November 18 and 25

If you already know the basics of crochet and are ready to tackle a project, this is the class for you. You will learn how to read a pattern including using crochet symbols. You can choose to work on a baby afghan, scarf or baby jacket.
